Founded on March 17, 1959 by Eitaro Kamata in Taito, Tokyo (Japan), Shoei produced its first motorcycle helmet in 1960 meeting Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS). Honda selected Shoei as its genuine helmet supplier in 1965. Shoei is publicly traded on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TYO: 7839) and is worn by 8-time MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez, Alex Marquez, Andrea Dovizioso, and Fabio Di Giannantonio. Michael Schumacher also wore a Shoei helmet in 1992.
